Unveiling Nexus v1: Whitepaper and Devnet Now Live

Today marks an important step forward as we launch our Devnet and release our whitepaper showcasing the details of Nexus. This milestone represents months of incredibly focused work and brings us closer to our goal: powering the first autonomous AI economy.

Nexus: A New Standard for Decentralized Autonomy

Talus introduces Nexus, our developer toolkit for building fully onchain AI agents. Nexus bridges the gap between AI and blockchain, enabling developers to create Talus Agents—autonomous digital entities that can own assets, execute transactions, and generate value independently.

Nexus defines how AI services can operate as modular, onchain components while balancing security, performance, and cost. It sets the foundation for trustless coordination and agent-driven applications across onchain ecosystems.

Beyond Digital Assistants: True Economic Agents

Many platforms offer supposed "onchain AI agents" that are little more than chatbots with wallets. Talus Agents are fundamentally different. True agents require three essential components which Talus Agents have out of the box:

  1. Identity — A defined onchain entity with specific capabilities and ownership
  2. Workflows — Structured task execution frameworks that define an agent's behavior
  3. Autonomy — The ability to act independently onchain without constant human input

This architecture creates the foundation for autonomous digital businesses. Talus Agents can own assets, execute complex operations across DeFi protocols and beyond, and generate sustainable income through clearly defined monetization mechanisms.

From Concept to Reality: The Devnet Release

After months of development, we're proud to release Nexus Devnet. This early version gives developers their first hands-on experience with this powerful platform and lets us gather valuable feedback before moving to wider testing and mainnet.

With the Devnet, you can:

  • Build and test complete agent workflows in a controlled environment.
  • Create and deploy agents that integrate a different set of tools for agent capabilities.
  • Experience the balance between security and performance that makes Nexus practical.
  • Explore the developer tools, including our SDK and documentation.

We designed the Devnet primarily for our internal team and select partners to validate core functionality. It represents a significant milestone in making our vision accessible to the broader developer community.

What's in the Whitepaper?

Our newly released whitepaper explores the design of the system and how it works on the Sui network while outlining two main application categories:

  1. Agent as a Service (AaaS): This approach focuses on enhancing existing Web3 applications with AI capabilities. Think of AI-powered oracles that can collect and verify data autonomously, DeFi platforms that optimize trading strategies, or onchain games with more intelligent NPCs.
  2. Markets for Agents (MFA): This model creates opportunities for monetizing AI services directly through the blockchain. It enables everything from investment strategies managed by agents to scientific computation markets where agents compete to solve complex problems.

The whitepaper also tackles one of the biggest challenges in Crypto AI: finding the right balance between security, trust, and performance. Our modular approach allows developers to choose the appropriate security model for each component of their application.

What Comes Next

The Devnet release is just the beginning of our journey toward the autonomous AI economy. We're using it to validate our approach, gather feedback, and refine our tools before expanding to a public Testnet and eventually Mainnet.

In this future AI economy, agents won't simply assist, they'll become autonomous systems that hire other agents, collaborate on complex tasks, and create entirely new forms of value. Traditional institutions will gradually be replaced by intelligent, autonomous agents collectively owned and evolved by their communities.

With plug-and-play integrations, co-branded launches, and shared monetization, Talus Agents will become powerful engines of attention, utility, and economic impact across DeFi, gaming, social ecosystems and beyond. All powered by the Nexus framework.

About Talus

Talus is building the backbone of the first autonomous AI economy, where agents are built to earn. We created the Nexus framework which empowers developers and creators to launch autonomous AI agents, known as Talus Agents, that can transact, execute complex onchain workflows, and generate sustainable revenue across DeFi, gaming, social ecosystems, and beyond. Unlike existing web3 agent frameworks, Talus Agents are fully hosted and defined onchain, improving transparency, censorship-resistance, and composability/resource sharing.
